Managed development team of from three to seven other people (processes, coding standards, version control, bug tracking)

Coordinated development projects with out-of-state and overseas teams

Team leader for developing Video Commander Professional Edition product family (embedded network server, PC client software)

Designed three generations of proprietary network application servers (Freescale ColdFire processors)

Helped develop VideoTizer digital recorder system (hardware, Linux software, MIPS assembly language)

Designed two embedded device controllers (schematic capture in OrCAD, PCB layout in Protel)

Helped design Signal Detection Switch system, including most firmware development, some PCB layout

Developed firmware for new generations of crosspoint signal router hardware

Developed interactive video sharing web service: study.landro.com (C++, ISAPI, SQL; video file manipulation for WMV and AVI)

Developed new "Landro for Laptop" sports video play analysis system (Windows Vista, DirectShow)

Developed Otto Playback Director digital video scheduling system (WinXP embedded firmware, PC client software)

Managed development of Video Commander Personal Edition products

Created or collaborated on several application user manuals and online help systems

Responsible for design and maintenance of company web sites (iristech.com, videocommander.com, landro.com) including developing custom shopping cart system (in C++ using ISAPI for Microsoft IIS)

1992-1998: Owner / Project Lead - Breakthrough Designs, Latrobe PA

Formed small business to assist regional businesses with aspects of technology product development. Clients included:

  • IRIS Technologies (Video Commander 3; Video Commander scheduler; CX-IR8 controller; firmware for several router models)
  • Bacharach (firmware for Autostep and RIS gas detection devices)
  • Union Switch & Signal (PC software for MicroLok II systems)

Originally started Breakthrough Designs as single contractor; added two programmers in 1995; added an office assistant and a tester in 1996; acquired by IRIS Technologies in October 1998

Managed project design and implementation; coding in C++, C, assembly; schematic capture in Protel; HTML web development

Performed business marketing and promotion; developed business web site; handled day-to-day management and accounting

1989-1992: Programmer / IT - Helicopter Aviation Services, Mt. Pleasant PA (www.has-corp.com)

Developed internal sales/contact tracking database system and supporting applets (C, Btrieve)

Installed, configured and managed all internal PCs and Novell network

Assisted in documentation for FAA approval process for new aircraft hardware

Led company transition from MS-DOS to Microsoft Windows

1988-1989: Director of Microcomputer R&D - MicroTech Resources, Greensburg PA

Helped debug XMS PC memory card (ISA bus)

Developed support code for robotics system equipment (C, assembly)

Developed two PC applications in C; wrote user manuals for applications

Assisted with PCB manufacturing/testing work

1984-1988: Assembly Language / Systems Programmer - Sulcus Computer Corp., Greensburg PA

Wrote assembly language code routines in support of software development

Developed two full applications in assembly language; wrote one application user manual

Coordinated the adaptation of CP/M applications for MS-DOS

Ported CP/M 3.0 operating system to new hardware (including hardware re-engineering for memory bank switching)
